Henry William ‘Hank’ Thompson was born September 3, 1925 to mother Zexia Ilda Wells Thompson and father Jule Thomas Thompson in Waco Texas and died November 6, 2007 in Roanoke/Keller Texas of lung cancer, he was 82 years of age. Hank and I had stopped smoking in 1973 so we doubted if it contributed to his cancer. Hank had told me that he had a very blessed and wonderful life both personally and professionally and that he did not want his family, friends, and fans to mourn his death. He wanted his funeral to be a celebration of his life where everyone could enjoy themselves with country music, dancing, and being together. His celebration of life was held on November 14, 2007 at Billy Bob’s Texas in Ft. Worth Texas known for being the largest honky tonk in the world. I know that he was in heaven smiling and enjoying the country music that he loved.
