Frank was born, raised, and attended schools in New Braunfels, Texas. He Started his music career at age 13 or 14 playing in area bands. Frank moved to Dallas in 1953 where he played in clubs all over the area. He joined the Air Force in 1955 and was stationed in Germany 1955 – 1959 where he was a member of the Western Gentlemen Band. Upon discharge Frank settled in Phoenix, Arizona and worked in clubs and dance halls. He met and married Bobbie in 1959, and returned to the Dallas area.  He joined Hank Thompson’s Brazos Valley Boys and played with that group for about a year. After the birth  of his first child, Frank worked a sit down job at Ma Brands. In 1961 he started playing only on weekends. He worked for American Airlines for 30 years and retired in 1996, at which time he became a Brazos Valley Boy again.
