Curtis Edward Lovejoy was born to Eddie and Virginia Lovejoy of Charleston, West Virginia, June 16th, 1945. Mr. And Mrs. Lovejoy were country music entertainers known as “blue-eyed Jenny” and “Smilin’ Eddie”. When Curtis was eleven years of age, Eddie and Jenny moved their family of six children to Dallas, TX in 1956 looking for a better life. After a tragic loss of his father in November 1958, Curtis, wanting to follow in his father’s footsteps, started playing guitar with his mother and his dad’s brothers in a family band.

As the years have passed, Curtis has been fortunate to have worked with different artists such as Norma Jean, Sammi Smith, Wanda Jackson, Chubby Weis, Claude Gray, James O'guinn, Melba Montgomery, Nat Stuckey, Junior Brown, Buck Trent, Johnny Rodriguez, and the legendary Hank Thompson.

Curtis joined Hank Thompson’s Brazos Valley Boys in September 1992 as bandleader, bass player and vocals. Some of the few highlights of his music career have been touring the United States, Norway, and Sweden, and also performing on the Austin City Limits Show with Hank Thompson, Ray Price, and Junior Brown.
