Hank Thompson had a Commercial and Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license with an Instrument and Multi-engine rating. In 1954 he purchased his first airplane, a single engine 4 passenger Cessna 180, then in 1958 he purchased a twin engine 4-6 passenger Piper Apache, then in the 1960's he purchased a twin engine 6 passenger Cessna 310. He and Ann flew the airplanes to his shows and on personal trips.
